Original VZ 58 striker - hammer.

The striker - hammer is made of hard steel.

The service life of the firing pin is roughly 12,000 rounds, the service life means the state where it will break with a 50% probability, not so that you have a dent on it from the firing pin, it will form quite soon and is not a defect in the reliable function of the weapon.

Striker - hammers have historically been produced in several designs either with or without a hole at the end.

In the past, we noticed an incredible defect with the Sa vz.58 weapon.

With the weapon cocked, cocked with a round in the chamber while moving forward, finger of course off the trigger, a spontaneous shot occurred.

The cause of this very unusual phenomenon was the fact that the firing pin was cracked in the front part, fatigue of the material and the pressure of the firing spring caused the part of it that was pushed by the firing spring to separate in the front part, about 1 cm from the end.

This small part hit the firing pin through the bolt passage and it detonated the primer of the cartridge case.

Taking into account the fact that this happened to an experienced shooter, who was also aiming for a safe area while moving, there was no danger to people.

We have never seen this happen anywhere, however it is important that you always inspect the firing pin for a crack when cleaning it to ensure that this does not happen to you.

The strikers are brand new - never used!
